Rimini On The Road - Hostel in Europe
Rimini is located in north-eastern Italy, between Venice and Ancona. It’s over 800,000 years old, having passed over from the Etruscans, the Umbrians, the Greeks, the Guals and the Romans. Found on the Adriatic Sea, Rimini has that great Italian seaside flavour to it - from busy beaches to fresh seafood and a great nightlife. Once a major fishing village, Rimini is now a place where holiday makers flock to when temperatures soar.
The city has incredibly well-preserved ancient structures like the Tiberius Bridge which was constructed around the 1st century. There is also the Arch of Augustus which was built around the year of 30 BC. There's also the Tempio Malatestiano, a church from around the 13th century, in gothic style with pagan influence from the time of the Renaissance. The Amphitheatre, built in the 2nd century, is on the coast with about 15,000 seats. Try an archaeological museum in Rimini, if you want to explore the history of the town’s foundation. Rimini’s also known for the mosaics discovered in the area - make sure you check out one of the many archaeological sites here for some intricate and colourful examples.
Since you're in Italy, the best thing of course is to sit down to an amazing meal of pasta or pizza. The fresh mozzarella, tomatoes and olive oil is wonderful, accompanied with classic Tuscan wine. For dessert there's gelato or fried pastries like lovers' knot, a Tuscan delight.
In Rimini, there's a budding clubbing scene, with great places to dance like the Cosmic Club that boasts a great local DJ. There are also bars and pubs where you can start your night off, sitting along the coast, watching people stroll along the beaches under the stars.
