Toronto! To many a foreigner, this city of the great white north still conjures up images of polar bears, ice-hockey, and igloos.
Though the temperature in winter does dip well below zero, the city of Toronto is considered one of the most multicultural on the planet.
With well established Italian, Greek, Portuguese, Korean, and West Indian communities, Toronto offers a rich milieu of cultures that is next to none.
Gastronomic delights await the hungry traveler in Little Italy (College St), and Greek town (Danforth Ave), as well as the many asian inspired restaurants and eateries along the Yonge-Bloor Ave area. For the more adventurous why not try Korean town (Bloor-Christie area), or spicy Thai or Indian food (Yonge-south of Bloor St).
If it's shopping you desire you've come to the right city. Whether it be the upscale designer labels in *Yorkville*, the hip and trendy fashion district of Queen St. West, or the eclectic vintage and bohemian chic of Kensington market, or just plain preppy style at Eaton centre, Toronto is a shopper's haven.
The CN Tower it is Canada's National Tower, the World's Tallest Building, 553.33m (1,815 ft., 5 inches) height .
After the long winter season Toronto is ready to party as it hosts some the largest outdoor festivals in North America.
The Toronto Gay Pride Parade kicks off in late June, and the Beaches International Jazz festival in july. If that's not enough partying for you there's still the Caribana festivities (the largest in North America) as well as the Toronto Street Music Festival on the longest street in the world, Yonge St. Both festivals take place in late july.
For those faint at heart who prefer something more relaxing why not pack a picnic lunch and take the ferry to the Toronto Island. Remember that your bicycles and rollerblades are always welcome.
For those who like indoor entertainment, why not take in dinner and a show in the famous Toronto theatre district (King, and Front Sts).
For the film buffs let's not forget the Toronto International Film Festival which starts in Sept.
